St. Louis Rams right guard Rodger Saffold is facing a five-month recovery after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder Wednesday.
Saffold, who underwent surgery on his left shoulder in January, was hurt in a Week 5 loss at Green Bay. He had a torn labrum repaired during Wednesday's procedure at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
"Everything went well," Saffold's agent, Alan Herman, told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "He feels fine. Unfortunately, he misses the season."
Garrett Reynolds will move into Saffold's spot in the starting lineup. Rams coach Jeff Fisher praised the play of Reynolds after he replaced Saffold against the Packers, calling him a settling influence on the offensive line.
A seven-year veteran who started 27 of 57 games with the Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions, the 6-foot-7, 305-pound Reynolds is in his first year with St. Louis.
