Sheridan's brace leads St Johnstone past Hearts

Cillian Sheridan scored a goal in each half 0 win over Hearts at McDiarmid Park on Sunday.

Hearts entered the contest on a five-game unbeaten streak but the visitors fell behind on the half-hour mark as Francisco Sandaza played a quick pass to Sheridan, who beat the offside trap and fired a shot past goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald from the edge of the penalty area.

St Johnstone missed a pair of good chances to extend its lead, but Sandaza and Sheridan hooked up again in the 55th minute to double the advantage with Sheridan getting on the other end of Sandaza's pass, rounding MacDonald and rolling the ball into the net.

The home side not only ended the unbeaten streak of Hearts but also extended its own unblemished run to five games with the win.
