Liverpool, England – Liverpool announced Tuesday that midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has signed a new long-term deal with the club. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Shelvey joined Liverpool from Charlton in May of 2010 and has committed his future to the Anfield club under new manager Brendan Rodgers.
"I am really happy," Shelvey told Liverpool's official website. "Last season I was itching to try and push for a new contract. Now it's happened and I am ready to kick on again now.
"It's lovely to know I am in the plans for the future. At the moment, it's just about getting things right each day and proving myself to the gaffer here. The gaffer and his way of playing will suit me down to the ground and hopefully I can be in his plans."
The 20-year-old broke into the Liverpool first-team last season, logging 13 appearances in the Premier League and recording one goal.
