Helsinki, Finland – Patrick Sharp notched a goal and four assists as Canada shook off its Saturday overtime loss to the USA and dispatched France, 7-2, in Monday action at the 2012 World Championship.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jamie Benn each totaled two goals and a helper for the Canadians, who got 19 saves from Devan Dubnyk.
Corey Perry and Jordan Eberle added tallies for Canada, which next plays Switzerland on Wednesday.
Alexandre Rouleau and Brian Henderson scored for France, while Fabrice Lhenry was dented for all seven scores on 37 shots.
Canada seized control of the game with a four-goal first period, begun by Nugent-Hopkins 1:59 after the opening faceoff. Sharp followed with a power- play score at 9:56, Benn registered his first of the game just shy of the 14- minute mark then lit the lamp again at 17:21.
