Renton, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Seahawks waived six players and terminated the contracts of two others on Monday.
Offensive lineman Wade Smith and cornerback Terrell Thomas had their contracts terminated. Smith was signed Aug. 4, while Thomas had been added July 29.
Thomas spent his first six NFL seasons with the New York Giants. He missed the 2011 and 2012 seasons because of injuries, but returned last year and notched 67 tackles with an interception in 16 games, seven of which were starts.
The 29-year-old USC product has 12 career interceptions, seven forced fumbles and three sacks. He was selected by the Giants in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
The Seahawks waived tackle Cory Brandon, running back Demitrius Bronson, safety Mike Dobson, defensive end Jackson Jeffcoat, wide receiver Kevin Smith and cornerback Thomas Wolfe.
