Undefeated Southland Conference champion Sam Houston State claimed four of the six individual awards announced on Tuesday.
Bearkats' sophomore running back Tim Flanders was named the player of the year, while sophomore wide receiver Richard Sincere, who often operates out of the Wild Bearkat formation, and junior defensive back Darnell Taylor were named the offensive and defensive players of the year, respectively. Willie Fritz also was named the coach of the year.
The other two awards went to Southern Louisiana running back Jordan Wells and Stephen F. Austin defensive end Willie Jefferson, who were tabbed as the freshman and newcomer of the year, respectively.
