METAIRIE, La. – Top Saints draft choice Brandin Cooks says he expects to make an "immediate impact" on New Orleans' prolific offense.
Saints coaches, meanwhile, sound encouraged by what they've seen from Cooks during this weekend's rookie camp.
Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan says Cooks' elite speed was easy to notice and says "it'll be awesome" to see the various ways head coach Sean Payton gets the ball in Cooks' hands.
Cooks caught 128 passes for 1,730 yards and 16 touchdowns at Oregon State last season en route to winning the Biletnikoff award as college football's top receiver.
Although 19 teams passed on him in the draft, Cooks says he was fortunate to wind up in Payton's prolific offense, which he sees as "the best fit."
