Metairie, LA – The New Orleans Saints have signed defensive back Elbert Mack, the team announced Wednesday.
Mack, a 26-year-old out of Troy University, had been with the Saints through training camp, but was released in late August during final roster cuts. He played with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2008-2011, appearing in 58 games.
Last season with the Bucs, he had 29 tackles and two interceptions, one which he took back for a touchdown. All told, Mack has 89 tackles and five interceptions for his NFL career.
To make room on the roster, New Orleans waived defensive back Jerome Murphy, who played in the Saints' first two games this year, recording three tackles.
