New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia returned from the 15-day disabled list to start Friday's series opener in Cleveland.
Sabathia had been out since August 8 with soreness in his left elbow and proclaimed himself ready to return to the rotation after going through a 38- pitch session Tuesday.
The southpaw won his last two starts and five straight decisions prior to the DL stint. He enters play with a 12-3 record and a 3.56 ERA this season.
