New York, NY – Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended for two games by the NBA, executive vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson announced Monday.
Rondo, who turns 26 on Wednesday, received the suspension "for throwing a ball at an official and striking him in the chest" during the third quarter of Sunday's 96-81 loss against the Pistons.
He will miss Monday's game at Dallas and Wednesday's game at Oklahoma City.
Rondo, who is averaging 14.8 points and 9.5 assists per game, will be eligible to return after the All-Star break when Boston travels to Cleveland on February 28.
