DETROIT – Auto racing team owner and businessman Roger Penske says he's exploring opening an auto racing museum in downtown Detroit.
Penske tells the Detroit Free Press (http://on.freep.com/1GNLNZb ) that "being able to have something downtown might very interesting." He says it's "on the radar."
Penske says a decision is possible in the coming months.
Penske's business interests include his Team Penske racing operation and the Penske Automotive Group. He's a big booster of Detroit, including efforts to build a light rail line that's under construction as well as the Grand Prix that takes place on Detroit's Belle Isle.
Penske has a Penske Racing Museum with race cars, trophies and memorabilia, located in an automotive dealership mall in Arizona.
