In a sign that Tiger Woods does not plan to slow down despite an ailing neck, the embattled golf star has filed for entry in the British Open, according to a Golf Digest report.
Woods, who has struggled in his return after taking time away from golf in the wake of a highly publicized sex scandal, has won the tournament three times in his career. He became the youngest to hold all four major championships in 2000 after his first British Open win. Two of Woods' British Open victories came at St. Andrews. He won the tournament back to back in 2005 and 2006.
This year's Open, which takes place July 15 to 18 at St. Andrews, is the third event Woods is scheduled to play this summer. He's committed to the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach (June 17-20) and the AT&T National at Aronimink (June 29-July 4). It's still possible that he could play the Memorial (June 3-6) if he's healthy enough.
Woods is expected to fully recover from a neck injury that forced him to exit The Players Championship in the middle of the final round. An MRI revealed that he has an inflamed facet joint in his neck.
