Report: Syracuse C Melo set to return

Syracuse center Fab Melo has been reinstated and will return to the court Saturday after missing three games, according to a report.

Melo will play on the road against St. John's, The Post-Standard reported on Tuesday, citing two sources. The paper said Syracuse would make an official announcement on Thursday.

The first game Melo missed ended up being Syracuse's first loss of the season, a 67-58 setback at Notre Dame on January 21. The Orange (22-1) have won their last two outings against Cincinnati and West Virginia.

The school didn't disclose why Melo was sitting out, citing federal student privacy laws, but it was said to be an academic issue.

Melo started each of Syracuse's first 20 games this season and is averaging 7.2 points with a team-best 5.7 rebounds.
