New Orleans Pelicans point guard Greivis Vasquez will reportedly undergo surgery Friday to remove loose particles from both ankles.
According to a report in the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the surgery is set for Friday in Los Angeles and is similar to what New Orleans shooting guard Eric Gordon underwent earlier in May to remove bone spurs in his left ankle.
No timetable is set for Vasquez's recovery, but the report did note that El Universal, a newspaper in Caracas, Venezuela, reported that Vasquez is expected to miss 12-to-16 weeks.
Vasquez averaged 13.9 points and 9.0 assists last season, finishing second behind Indiana's Paul George for the NBA's Most Improved award.
