Report: Panthers add depth, trade for Seahawks WR Kevin Norwood

After the Carolina Panthers seemed to be content with their current wide receivers, it seems that general manager Dave Gettleman has decided to add one new face into the mix.

As David Newton of ESPN reports, the team pulled off a trade with the Seattle Seahawks to bring in WR Kevin Norwood.

Norwood is heading into his second NFL season, and the Panthers sent an "undisclosed 2017 draft pick" in exchange for the receiver.

Gettleman spoke about the addition of Norwood, including talking about what led to the decision to add him.

"Kevin gives us another player to compete at the wide receiver position," Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said in a statement. "He has the size you look for along with toughness and smarts. We studied him a lot going into last year's draft and we look forward to having him as part of our receiving corps."

As Henson explains, the former fourth-round pick in 2014 caught nine balls for 102 yards last season. Will he be a factor for Carolina in 2015? Only time will tell, but it seems that the team wasn't joking when saying they would replace Kelvin Benjamin by committee.
