The Brooklyn Nets are apparently trying to make a big splash this summer as they prepare for the first season in their new home.

In addition to trying to keep free agent point guard Deron Williams, reports on Monday said the Nets have acquired All-Star guard Joe Johnson in a trade with Atlanta and on Tuesday there are additional reports that the club is still attempting to add Orlando's Dwight Howard.

ESPN reported early Tuesday morning that the Nets and Magic are discussing a trade that would send Howard to Brooklyn in exchange for Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks and a trio of first-round draft picks.

Howard wants out of Orlando and reports earlier this week indicated that the only team he would sign an extension with is Brooklyn. The six-time All-Star center and three-time Defensive Player of the Year asked for a trade last December, then waived his opt-out clause in March to stay in Orlando after lengthy speculation that he would be dealt at the trade deadline.

The deal with Brooklyn reportedly would include first-round picks in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Lopez and Humphries, both free agents, would also have to consent to sign-and-trade deals.
