Auburn's star defensive end Carl Lawson did not make the trip with his team to LSU, ending any speculation that he may return from injury to play Saturday, according to AL.com.
Lawson injured his hip in the opener against Louisville and has not returned to the field since that time. The former freshman All-American appeared to be making a successful return to form in the opener after missing all of 2014 after tearing his ACL in the offseason. Lawson had one sack and two tackles-for-loss in only a quarter of work against the Cardinals in week one before getting injured.
In a game many suspect to be a defensive battle, Lawson's absence makes Auburn's job that much tougher on the road at LSU.
