Rennes, France – There may be 19 points and eight places separating league-leaders PSG from Rennes, but Alou Diarra feels his side will be up for the challenge.
The Rennes midfielder knows his team is in the midst of a six-match winless run which has dropped them to 10th place in the Ligue 1 table, and that a confident PSG side will be visiting the Stade dele Route de Lorient on Saturday after a 2-2 draw in midweek with Barcelona in the Champions League.
But Diarra also feels that the club's poor run of form will only serve as motivation against the high-flying squad from Paris.
"This is a game that all players dream of playing," Diarra said of the PSG match. "Today, Paris is the best team in the league and they have shown that since the beginning of the season.
"They have world-class players in their team and can even compete with Barca. They have become a top-level team.
"While being realistic, we want to stop this spiral of defeats. We must quickly stop because we have important games ahead."
PSG has claimed seven points from its previous three league matches, and manager Carlo Ancelotti brings with him a relatively healthy side that should be confident after the Barca result.
On Friday, second-place Marseille placed some added pressure on PSG by claiming a 1-0 win over Bordeaux. The win lifts Marseille to 57 points through 31 games, four points shy of first-place PSG.
Lyon enters the weekend in third place but without a win in its last four games, leaving the club just three points clear of fourth-place St Etienne.
The team will try to snap that dry spell on Sunday with a win at bottom-half Reims, while St Etienne hopes to continue its push for a top-three place with a home win against Evian.
Fifth-place Lille has won six of its last seven games to join the Champions League discussion and the club hopes to continue that strong form at home against Lorient, which owns one win in its last five fixtures.
Nice and Toulouse will hook up at the Stadium Municipal with Nice eyeing a European place, Nancy and Troyes tangle in a battle of the bottom two sides in the league, Brest sits two points from safety and visits Bastia, Montpellier faces Valenciennes and Ajaccio invades Sochaux, which sits two points clear of the relegation places.
