WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Washington Redskins cut Larry Johnson on Tuesday after the former Pro Bowl running back rushed for only two yards in five carries this season.

Johnson played with the Kansas City Chiefs for seven seasons, making the Pro Bowl in 2005 and 2006, after being selected in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

The powerful 30-year-old was waived by the Chiefs midway through the 2009 season and picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Johnson, who has rushed for more than 6,200 career yards, signed with the Redskins as an unrestricted free agent in March but failed to see much action behind starter Clinton Portis.
