New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The NFL has reduced the suspension on Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather from two games to one after an expedited hearing on Wednesday.
Meriweather was penalized twice in Sunday's 45-41 home win over Chicago for hits to the head and neck area of defenseless players and suspended on Monday for those actions.
Previously, he was fined $42,000 for delivering an illegal hit to Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy in Week 2.
Meriweather will miss Sunday's game against Denver and can rejoin the team on Monday in preparation of the Week 9 tilt against San Diego.
