The Boston Red Sox placed right-hander Aaron Cook on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a left knee laceration and activated lefty Andrew Miller off the DL.

Cook was injured in the second inning Saturday against Baltimore when he slid knee-first to block the plate on a passed ball and was spiked by the Orioles' Chris Davis.

He received stitches from the training staff and returned to pitch, but got just three more outs after that in his first start since being called up from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Miller started the season on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain and made 12 rehab appearances in the minors.
