The Boston Red Sox officially announced on Thursday the signing of veteran outfielder Shane Victorino to a three-year contract.
The pact is believed to be worth $39 million.
A two-time All-Star with three Gold Gloves to his credit, Victorino had spent the majority of his nine-year career with the Philadelphia Phillies before being dealt to the Los Angeles Dodgers at last season's trade deadline.
In 154 combined games, the switch-hitting Victorino batted .255 with 11 home runs, 55 RBI and stole 39 bases in 2012.
The 32-year-old Hawaii native is a career .275 hitter with 65 triples, 90 home runs, 195 doubles and 409 RBI.
