Thursday's game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Kansas City Royals has been postponed after the arrival of a winter storm created unplayable conditions.

A makeup date has yet to be determined.

The contest did start on time despite the presence of rain mixed with cold temperatures, but was halted after 3 1/2 innings with the Royals leading 1-0.

Kansas City scored the lone run in the bottom of the third, when Elliot Johnson singled off Rays starter Roberto Hernandez and stole second before coming home on an Alex Gordon base hit.

Ervin Santana struck out seven Tampa batters while yielding just two hits over the first four innings.

The Royals resume their current homestand Friday against the Chicago White Sox, with the Rays beginning a three-game set in Colorado on Friday.
