Tampa Bays Rays manager Joe Maddon stated that ace David Price is "unlikely" to make his next start due to a left triceps strain he suffered in Wednesday's 9-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox.
Price exited with one out in Boston's eight-run third after giving up back-to- back RBI singles to Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz.
The reigning AL Cy Young Award winner had an MRI exam and will be further evaluated to determine the extent of the injury.
Price, a 20-game winner last year, has struggled this season. He's 1-4 with a 5.24 ERA over nine starts. He's already allowed eight homers after surrendering just 16 in 2012.
