The Tampa Bay Rays will have center fielder Desmond Jennings back in the lineup when the club begins a key three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles on Monday.

The Rays activated Jennings, who had been sidelined for a little over two weeks with a fractured left middle finger, from the 15-day disabled list and inserted him into the leadoff spot for Monday's matchup.

Jennings suffered the injury while sliding into second base in a game against San Francisco on August 3. He was batting .258 with 11 home runs, 40 RBI and a team-high 17 stolen bases prior to being sidelined.

Tampa Bay optioned reliever Brandon Gomes to Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move. The right-hander returned from a three-month absence caused by a strained lat muscle on Saturday and allowed a solo homer to Toronto's Adam Lind in a two-inning stint during the Rays' 6-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

In 15 appearances this season, Gomes went 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA.
