Dan Johnson has a place in Tampa Bay Rays lore. He is reportedly looking to land a spot in the team's oddity department, too.
Johnson, a 10-year MLB vet, is best known for homering in the ninth inning of the final Rays regular-season game of 2011 to cap a comeback against the Yankees.

The Rays won't be counting on Johnson to hit home runs, if he makes the team. Rather, Johnson reportedly will sign a minor-league contract on Saturday in hopes of making the team as a knuckleball pitcher.
The genesis of the idea is that Johnson apparently toyed with throwing a knuckler while playing catch before games.
