The Baltimore Ravens signed linebacker Arthur Brown to a four-year contract on Thursday.
The Ravens selected Brown in the second round of last month's draft.
On Wednesday, Baltimore coach John Harbaugh said that Brown had sports hernia surgery earlier this month.
"It's a four-to-six week deal, and he should be fine soon enough," Harbaugh said.
The middle linebacker out of Kansas State is expected to compete for one of the two starting inside linebacker spots that opened up with the departures of Ray Lewis and Dannell Ellerbe this offseason.
First-round safety Matt Elam and third-round defensive tackle Brandon Williams are the only ones left unsigned for the Ravens.
