C.J. Wilson goes after his fourth straight win this evening game series against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field.

Wilson was terrific once again on Sunday against Oakland, as he scattered five hits over eight scoreless innings to run his record to 16-6, while lowering his earned run average to 3.01. He had tossed a five-hit shutout his previous time out.

"I love it, because that's what I expect out of myself -- to go out there and throw well," Wilson said. "That's all you work for. That's why, in the offseason, you run hills and lift weights, stay hydrated and get your rest. This is what it's all about right here. These last couple weeks are going to be the entire season for us. It's basically whoever plays better between us and Anaheim, and we have to show that we belong."

Wilson has owned the Mariners this season, going 3-0 with a 1.57 ERA against them.

Texas won its fourth straight game on Thursday, as Josh Hamilton homered for a third straight contest and Alexi Ogando pitched six shutout innings, helping the Rangers earn a 7-4 win to sweep the Indians in a three-game series and widen their lead atop the AL West.

Michael Young had a three-run double and Adrian Beltre followed in the fifth inning with two-run homer, as Texas won for the fifth time in six tries and moved 3 1/2 games ahead of the Angels in the division.

Ogando (13-8) allowed two hits, walked two and had four strikeouts to win for the first time in his last five starts. It was his first triumph at home since July 6 against the Orioles.

Seattle, meanwhile, snapped a four-game losing streak on Wednesday when Luis Rodriguez's homer in the bottom of the 12th inning lifted the Mariners to a 2-1 victory over the Yankees.

"He has the right heartbeat up there, wants to be up there in those situations," Seattle manager Eric Wedge said of Rodriguez. "He's confident."

Tonight, the Mariners turn to young right-hander Blake Beavan, who is 4-5 with a 4.32 ERA. Beavan defeated Kansas City last Friday, as he allowed three runs and nine hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Beavan lost to the Rangers back on July 17 in his only other start against them. He surrendered three runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings that day.

Texas has dominated the Mariners this season, taking 10 of the 13 matchups, including five of the seven meetings in Seattle.
