The New York Rangers signed defensemen Michael Del Zotto and Matt Gilroy on Sunday.

Del Zotto set career-highs with 10 goals and 31 assists for 41 points with the Rangers in 2011-12. The 22-year-old also recorded a career-best, plus-20 rating in 77 games last season.

Selected by the Rangers in the first round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Del Zotto made his playoff debut last season, recording two goals and eight assists in 20 games.

Del Zotto has 21 goals and 68 assists in 204 career contests with the Rangers.

Gilroy returns to New York after spending 2011-12 with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators. He set career-highs in assists (17), points (20) and hits (59) in 67 games.

The 28-year-old recorded six goals and nine assists in 34 games with the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season.

Gilroy has skated in 194 career games with the Rangers, Tampa Bay and Ottawa, registering 10 goals and 36 assists, along with 55 penalty minutes and a plus- seven rating.
