Agadir, Morocco (SportsNetwork.com) - Raja Casablanca advanced to the final of the FIFA Club World Cup on Wednesday after a 3-1 upset victory in the semifinals over Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro.
Mineiro squandered a pair of good chances in a scoreless first half, and Raja took advantage in the 51st minute when the hosts broke quickly after a corner kick. Mouhcine Iajour was released by Abdelilah Hafidi and he tucked the ball inside the left post with a low shot from 20 yards.
The Brazilian side equalized in the 63rd minute through a brilliant free kick from Ronaldinho, who curled the ball off the right post and into the net.
Raja regained the lead eight minutes from time when Iajour broke into the penalty area and was tripped by Atletico defender Rever.
Mohsine Moutouali sent goalkeeper Victor the wrong way from the spot, and Vianney Mabide tallied a third goal just before the final whistle with Atletico pushed forward in search of an equalizer.
Raja will now face European heavyweights Bayern Munich in the final on Saturday, and will be massive underdogs despite playing on home soil.
