Alameda, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Raiders signed second-round draft pick Derek Carr on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-3 quarterback was selected 36th overall and played in 44 games over four seasons at Fresno State, setting 27 school records and 21 Mountain West Conference records.
Carr was a two-time All-American selection and Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013. As a senior, he led the nation in passing yards (5,082) and touchdown passes (50), becoming just the fourth quarterback in FBS history to throw for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in a season.
The California native totaled 12,842 yards on 1,086-of-1,630 passing with 113 touchdowns and just 24 interceptions.
"I feel great," Carr said. "I'm excited. I'm excited that this part of it is over and now we can just get to work and focus on winning games and getting better every day."
The Raiders have now signed five of their eight picks in the 2014 draft.
