PSV survives Den Haag scare
The Hague, Netherlands – PSV Eindhoven survived a late push from Den Haag to come away from the Kyocera Stadion with a 3-2 victory on Saturday.
The visitors jumped out to a comfortable lead by halftime thanks to Georginio Wijnaldum in the 12th minute, an own goal from Danny Holla five minutes later and Jetro Willems in the 33rd.
Holla made amends for his own goal by pulling one back for Den Haag just before halftime, a strike that would help the home side take back some momentum.
Den Haag pushed for another goal that eventually came by way of Mike van Duinen in the fourth minute of stoppage time, but with such little time left for the home side to conjure an equalizer, PSV managed to escape with the victory.
Heerenveen and Groningen went level with PSV in the Eredivisie table after both clubs also claimed wins on Saturday.
Alfred Finnbogason bagged a brace for Heerenveen in the club's dramatic 4-2 defeat of AZ Alkmaar while Tjaronn Chery, Andraz Kirm, David Texeira and Richairo Zivkovic produced a goal apiece to see Groningen down NEC, 4-1.
Twente and RKC Waalwijk played to the first draw of the Eredivisie season as the two sides finished scoreless at De Grolsch Veste.
