Paris, France ( - After suffering a surprising defeat to Evian in midweek, PSG responded with a 5-0 hammering of last-place Sochaux at the Parc des Princes on Saturday.

The loss to Evian was PSG's first of the campaign and it ended a 26-match unbeaten streak in the league.

But a similar result was never an option on Saturday against a Sochaux team with just one win this season.

Thiago Silva scored the lone goal of the first half in the 14th minute when he volleyed home a cross from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but PSG didn't have to wait too long after halftime to seize control of the match.

Ezequiel Lavezzi was the man who gave the hosts a two-goal lead after only a minute when he scored from close range after being set up by Thiago Motta.

Edinson Cavani squandered a few good chances for PSG in the first half, but he finally made the most of a chance in the 62nd minute to make it 3-0 after finishing off a flick from Ibrahimovic.

The Sweden international then found the net twice in the final five minutes to close out the match with his first goal coming from a free kick before Cavani returned the favor in stoppage time, setting up a 13th league goal this season for Ibrahimovic.

PSG moves four points clear of second-place Lille, which travels to Bordeaux on Sunday.

Lorient topped 10-man Rennes, 2-0, behind a pair of goals from Yann Jouffre, Reims edged Nice, 1-0, with Gaetan Charbonnier scoring the lone goal in stoppage time, while Guingamp claimed a 1-1 draw at Valenciennes with an equalizer from Younousse Sankhare 20 minutes from time.
