The Phoenix Coyotes went into their first season with new owners with plenty of expectations.
They ended it in the same place they were last season: Out of the playoffs.
Uncharacteristically unable to hold onto leads or consistently play their style of hockey, the Coyotes had one of the worst closing stretches in franchise history to miss the playoffs for the second straight season.
Phoenix had a chance to earn the final Western Conference playoff spot, but lost seven of its final eight games to finish two points behind eighth-place Dallas.
Now the Coyotes must decide what to do during the offseason, whether to give younger players more of a chance or change the core of the team.
