Pouncey apologizes for Gonzalez flap, ready to get back to football as Steelers begin

Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey says he understands why people got so upset when he wore a hat supporting former college teammate Aaron Hernandez and is ready to move on.

Pouncey apologized again on Friday for wearing a hat that read "Free Hernandez" during a birthday party in Miami earlier this month. Pouncey played at Florida with the former New England Patriots tight end, who has pleaded not guilty to murder charges.

Pouncey says he "took a lot of heat" for wearing the hat and he "probably should have." The three-time Pro Bowler says he spoke to coach Mike Tomlin about the situation and believes it will "blow away."

Pouncey and the rest of the Steelers reported to training camp on Friday. The first full workout is Saturday afternoon.
