Others considered for the award included Liriano's teammate A.J. Burnett, the Atlanta Braves' Freddie Freeman, Chris Johnson, Justin Upton, Alex Wood and Craig Kimbrel, the St. Louis Cardinals' Matt Holliday and the Los Angeles Dodgers' Kenley Jansen.
