CINCINNATI (AP) Steady rain prompted the Cincinnati Reds to postpone their game against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night with no makeup immediately scheduled.
The game was called after a 55-minute wait. Right-hander Juan Nicasio (3-3) was scheduled to start for the Pirates against Alfredo Simon (1-3), who will start the final game of the series on Wednesday. The Pirates hadn't announced their pitching plans. Left-hander Francisco Liriano (3-1) was originally scheduled to start on Wednesday.
It was the second rain delay at Great American Ball Park this season and the 13th postponement in the history of the ballpark, which opened in 2003.
Both teams have struggled lately. The Pirates have lost six of eight, including a 3-2 defeat in the series opener on Monday night. The Reds have lost 12 of 18.
