Pierce, Garnett to miss Celtics' next game

The Boston Celtics will be without both Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett when they take the court against the Eastern Conference-leading Miami Heat on Friday.

Both players are dealing with sore ankles and were ruled out by the team on Tuesday, though each will make the trip to Miami.

Pierce did put up 23 points in 33 minutes in Wednesday's 101-93 loss to Brooklyn, with Garnett recording 11 points in 28 minutes.

Boston enters Friday's matchup 2 1/2 games behind Atlanta for the sixth overall seed in the East with four remaining in the regular season.
