London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Crystal Palace announced on Tuesday that veteran striker Kevin Phillips is leaving the club after he was released by mutual consent.
Phillips, 40, has made just five substitute appearances for Palace this term after helping the side gain promotion by scoring the winning penalty kick against Watford in the playoff final.
"It went well for me at the end of the season and then the playoff final - getting the goal and securing promotion was right up there with one of my highest achievements in football," Phillips said.
"I have to thank the club and the supporters who have been absolutely magnificent to me and welcomed me with open arms from day one. That will stay in my memories for a long time."
A former England international, Phillips joined Palace on loan from Blackpool in January and signed a permanent contract over the summer.
