Khalif Phillips ran for 173 yards and three touchdowns and Lee McNeill passed for two more as North Carolina Charlotte upended previously unbeaten Division III power Wesley 38-33 on Saturday.
The 49ers (3-6) scored two minutes into the game when Phillips burst across from the 4 on the opening drive.
Joe Callahan brought the Wolverines (9-1) right back, capping an 83-yard drive with a 66-yard bomb to Jamar Baynard, then hitting Bryce Shade from 9 yards after Wesley sacked McNeill and forced a fumble.
Callahan, intercepted twice all season, threw two in the game, one resulting in a Phillips TD run to tie at 14-14.
Wesley made a late run, driving 97 yards to score on a Callahan 1-yard keeper with 1:11 left, but Charlotte recovered the onside kick.
Wesley is hoping for a 10th straight appearance in the playoffs when selections are announced Sunday.
