Phillies' Hamels won't be ready for Opening Day
Clearwater, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Philadelphia Phillies ace Cole Hamels doesn't expect to be ready for the start of the season due to shoulder and biceps discomfort.
Hamels spoke with reporters Wednesday at the club's spring training home and said he began to feel discomfort in mid-to-late November, but believes he'll be ready sometime in April.
The veteran lefty went 8-14 with a 3.60 ERA in 33 starts for the Phillies last season.
During his eight-year career, Hamels has a 99-74 mark with a 3.38 ERA.
