Peter Hooley scored 21 points, including a key 3-pointer, as Albany held on for a 74-63 win over Maine on Saturday.

After blowing a 47-27 halftime advantage, Albany (13-13, 7-6 America East) clung to a one-point lead with 7:44 to go when Hooley hit a 3-pointer that made it 60-56 and quelled the Maine rally. The Great Danes pulled away, preserving the win in the final 2 minutes by going 7 for 8 from the free throw line.

DJ Evans contributed 16 points and Gary Johnson had 11 for Albany, which snapped a two-game skid with the win.

Maine (5-20, 3-10) opened the second half with a 16-4 burst and kept closing, drawing to within 57-56 on a pair of Shaun Lawton free throws, but couldn't keep the pace.

Ethan Mackey led Maine with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Zarko Valjarevic scored 15 points in the loss.
