State tournament MVP Cameron Payne scored a game-high 22 points and Lausanne Collegiate School blew open a close game with a strong second half to defeat Evangelical Christian School 67-43 Saturday in the Division II Class A boys state championship.

After leading 36-30 at halftime, the Lynx (24-4) dominated the second half, outscoring the Eagles (19-11) 13-6 in the third period. Payne, the state's Mr. Basketball, and Denio Chirindja scored nine of Lausanne's points in that quarter.

Lausanne continued to assert its control in the fourth quarter, with the final 24-point margin its largest of the game.

Chirindja added 14 points for Lausanne, while Isaac James came off the bench to lead Evangelical Christian School with nine points.

Evangelical Christian kept the game close early and actually led 17-15 at the end of the first quarter, thanks to Christopher Campbell's 3-point basket.
