Moscow, Russia (SportsNetwork.com) - Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia captured her seventh career title with a three-set victory over Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu on Sunday in the final of the Kremlin Cup.
The sixth-seeded Pavlyuchenkova came away with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-1 triumph and picked up her second title of 2014. She also won the Paris Indoors crown back in February.
Pavlyuchenkova broke serve seven times on Sunday to win in her home city for the first time in six tries. She was a semifinalist at this event last year after four first-round exits.
"It's the best way to finish the season for me -- winning the title at home, and now I have seven in my career," said Pavlyuchenkova. "I couldn't be happier with how the week went."
Now 7-3 all-time in finals, Pavlyuchenkova also became the fourth Russian woman to win in Moscow. Anastasia Myskina won back-to-back titles in 2003 and '04, Anna Chakvetadze captured the 2006 tournament and Elena Dementieva followed in 2007.
Begu fell to 1-3 in finals and hasn't won a tournament since 2012 in Taskhent.
Pavlyuchenkova, who claimed a first prize off $120,000, also won the only previous meeting with Begu, a straight-set triumph in the 2013 Seoul quarterfinals.
