Third-seeded Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and fourth-seeded 2012 runner-up Carla Suarez will be the combatants in Saturday's women's final at the Portugal Open.
The Russian Pavlyuchenkova was blown away in the opening set of her semifinal match on Friday before rebounding for a 0-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Swiss Romina Oprandi, while a rematch of last year's Portugal Open final saw Suarez Navarro exact some revenge on Kaia Kanepi with a 6-4, 6-1 decision at this clay-court French Open tune-up. The Estonian slugger Kanepi beat Suarez Navarro in last year's final when the tournament was staged in Estoril.
The 21-year-old Moscow native Pavlyuchenkova will appear in her seventh career WTA final, seeking a fifth title. Three of the world No. 19's four career championships have come in Monterrey Mexico, including one just last month.
The 24-year-old Spaniard Suarez Navarro, meanwhile, is seeking her first-ever WTA-level title, having finished as a runner-up on four occasions, including one in Acapulco back in March.
Pavlyuchenkova will meet the 23rd-ranked Suarez Navarro for a fifth time, seeking a fifth victory.
The winner of this $235,000 event will collect $42,000.
