SAN DIEGO (Reuters) - The San Diego Padres halted a 10-game losing streak to keep their lead in the National League West with a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.
The Padres used a committee of seven pitchers to end their suffering with their first win since Aug, 25, helping the team maintain a one-game edge over the San Francisco Giants.
With ace pitcher Mat Latos scratched due to stomach flu, regular reliever Tim Stauffer filled in and pitched the first four innings for San Diego while allowing one run.
Mike Adams came on in the seventh and was credited with the win after tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings while Heath Bell worked the ninth for his 38th save of the season.
