The San Diego Padres announced Friday that they have agreed to terms with pitcher Max Fried, the club's first-round pick in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.
San Diego used the seventh overall selection to draft the left-handed hurler, who went 8-2 with a 2.02 earned run average with 105 strikeouts and 29 walks over 66 innings at Harvard-Westlake High School during his senior season.
The 18-year-old Southern California native had previously committed to play for UCLA next season before signing with the Padres.
