The San Diego Padres announced on Monday round selection Joe Ross.
The 18-year-old right-hander was the 25th overall pick in the draft out of Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, California. He notched 95 strikeouts and an 0.83 earned-run average over 67 2/3 innings during his just-completed senior season.
In addition, the Padres agreed to terms with second-round pick and catcher Austin Hedges, pitcher Michael Kelly from the supplemental round, and 14th- round choice Burch Smith, also a right-hander.
San Diego has now agreed to terms with 35 of the 53 players chosen in the 2011 draft.
