Green Bay, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Green Bay Packers star linebacker Clay Matthews will sit out "multiple weeks" due to a broken thumb, coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday.
ESPN.com had reported on Monday that Matthews could miss at least a month with the injury.
Matthews hurt his thumb on the final play of the third quarter of last Sunday's win over the Lions. He sacked Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford for a 12-yard loss before going to the locker room.
Matthews has 18 tackles and three sacks in four games this season. The USC product had 43 tackles and 13 sacks in 12 games last year.
McCarthy also said Wednesday that linebacker Brad Jones will miss Sunday's game against Baltimore with a hamstring injury. Jones has started all four games for the Packers this year and has recorded 29 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.
Jamari Lattimore will make his first NFL start in place of Jones.
