Green Bay Packers cornerback Tramon Williams will not play in Sunday's contest against the Carolina Panthers due to a bruised shoulder.

The Louisiana Tech product suffered the injury in last week's season-opening victory over the New Orleans Saints.

Sam Shields will take over for Williams, according to the team's Twitter account.

In 2010, Williams started all 16 games and posted career-highs in tackles (63), passes defensed (23) and interceptions with six while adding two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and a sack. He was named to the Pro Bowl as a replacement for Eagles CB Asante Samuel.
